So Proud of My Girl

Bigs had a piece of her artwork displayed at a local art festival. She was SO excited to see it there :) Me too! It has been doing the entire art festival circuit (pretty big here in the fall) but this was the first one we were able to attend.

Wordless Wednesday - Missing Tooth

Her first official missing tooth (the unofficial lost tooth was lost in a flipping out of bed accident when she was two). And the gemstone tooth fairy thing was a HUGE hit!

Kids in the Pizza Kitchen

I made pizza dough and let my girls make their own pizzas. Fun stuff! I'll share my dough recipe next week but use premade if you would like. Publix is even having a sale on their bakery pizza dough if you are down south.

Get some dough. Let them pull it, roll it, stretch it, shape it. Add pizza sauce (for us is was tomato paste, sauce, and spices mixed) and toppings.

They said it was THE BEST pizza they had ever eaten and have made plans to open a pizza kitchen :) They said I could sell my ice cream at it if I would like. They are so kind.

Thousand Word - Beach Fun

We spent the week at the beach; one more last hurrah before school starts up. We had a wonderful time. Hope you get some R&R before your year starts.

Despite having watched "Shark Week" the previous week, Bigs was not afraid to play in the water. She loves getting beat up by the waves and throwing jelly fish back into the water (yes, real jelly fish, no they were not poisonous).

Mimi enjoying the sand and water. She has a fantastic imagination and can play for hours.

Can you believe I forgot to bring Little Bit's bathing suits to the beach?? Luckily, Mimi had one that was slightly too small for her....but still a bit big on Little Bit. She had the most wonderful time digging in the sand and chasing sea birds.

What's in a Name?

My parents have each of our first kindergarten paintings framed. I grew up during the first Star Wars era so mine is cluttered with rainbows, houses, people, and the Millennium Falcon (OK, I doubt this is the name of the spacecraft but I tried to it up on line with no luck. I was young and pretty much copies everything my older brother did.). You get the picture. In each frame is a card with our name and it's meaning. It was fun for Emma to see what mommy did at her age.

Emma: "Hey mom, what's this?"
Me: "That is my name and it's meaning."
Emma: "Wow! Your name means princess?" (I'm sure in disbelief)
Me: "Sure does. Everyone's name has a meaning."
Emma: "Do you think my name means talker?"

LOL! So that morning we looked up the meaning of each family member's name. It was fun. She loved it.

In case you are wondering, Emma means universal or entire. I think that means that she is talking the ENTIRE time....

Thousand Word Thursday - Spring Break~!

In honor of Spring Break next week. This is the first time we took Bigs to the beach....and as new parents forgot that she would want beach toys. All we could find in the truck for her to play with were a softball and a Slurpee cup. Can you say ghetto? Of course she didn't care :)

Bubble Catcher

Angela at Angela's Adventures and Minor Mishaps is hosting a bubble picture contest! She tells us that the second week of March is National Bubble Week. I've already posted a bubble picture of the baby. Here is the big sister. Her big thing is to catch the bubble. Good job Bigs!

Thousand Word - Best of Friends

My wish for today is that they will grow up loving each other unconditionally and delight in each other's lives. That they are strong when the others need it and they are carried by the other two when they need it themselves. I pray that they grow together spiritually and encourage each other. That they will be best friends. Sisters. How much fun!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Our church puts on a fabulous Daddy Daughter Dance to teach girls how to expect boys to treat them - by looking to their daddy for example. It's a big deal. There were over 1,200 daddys and daughters this year. My girls look forward to it and talk about it months ahead of time (and afterwards).

Works for Me! Traditional birthday pictures!

I love traditions. When Bigs was three I heard the idea to take a traditional birthday photo...of her in my wedding dress. Considering I have only worn it once, this is the best way to get it's moneys worth :) Each girl gets this picture taken each birthday and each girl has a little album just for these. It's amazing how quick they change! For boys you could use a suit coat or your husband's old Letterman jacket (do they get these any longer?). The girls also asked if they could get a picture of ME in the dress on my birthday.....ummmm, we'll have to get back to you on that! So to celebrate Bigs turning 6, enjoy the last few years of her traditional pictures :)
