Kids in the Kitchen - Chex Mix

I've been meaning to make Chex Mix since the holiday season started and I got boxes of each cereal for less than a dollar. Nice! To make matters worse, The Pioneer Woman (whom I cannot get enough of these days) posted a recipe that is close to the original but uses fresh garlic. My parents are coming in to town tomorrow so I figured this would be a good snack to have around. Unfortunately, it is too good and we made it on Monday....which means it's almost gone. I do have enough cereal for another batch. Mimi did have lots of fun measuring everything out - and Little Bit had lots of fun sneaking cereal from the bowl :) See the link above for the recipe. Enjoy!

Quite The Imagination

Yesterday, when I picked Mimi up from Sunday School, the teacher was so surprised that I was at church. Mimi told her class that her mom was sick with the flu and couldn't get out of bed. The class prayer for me. No flu. Wonder if she wants me to get sick? I asked Mimi about it and she played dumb....never heard of such a thing.

I just got a call from Mimi's preschool. They wanted to check to see if Mimi was OK to be at school. Mimi told her teacher that she was at the hospital yesterday and had to get something stuck down her throat. She told them she wasn't going to breath today so she wouldn't get anyone else sick. I just love the staff at the pre-school. They just laughed when I told them there was no sickness or hospital trip.

I am surprised that she is so bold to tell people these things. So what do you do with a 4 year old with a vivid imagination? I can't wait to see what she tells me about it when I pick her up today.

Wordless Wednesday - Strike a Pose

After years of watching big sister, Mimi can no longer just smile for the camera. Each pose consists of a popped hip and a head tilt. Cute :)

My Little Engineer

Little Bit gets into everything that is not locked up. She climbs on everything that is low enough to shimmy on to. She rips to shreds everything that is not as strong titanium. She has the innate ability to know when the bathroom door is not shut and can sense when the remote is left unguarded. The child is powerful.
Today one of the cabinet locks went missing and Mimi was fretting that it's entire contents would be scattered all over the house if we did not find it quickly.

After a few minutes Mimi came and told me that she had fixed the problem. I thought she had found the lock but instead I came to find this......

Tinker Toys to the rescue. Brilliant. She could seriously be the next McGyver.

Kids in the Pizza Kitchen

I made pizza dough and let my girls make their own pizzas. Fun stuff! I'll share my dough recipe next week but use premade if you would like. Publix is even having a sale on their bakery pizza dough if you are down south.

Get some dough. Let them pull it, roll it, stretch it, shape it. Add pizza sauce (for us is was tomato paste, sauce, and spices mixed) and toppings.

They said it was THE BEST pizza they had ever eaten and have made plans to open a pizza kitchen :) They said I could sell my ice cream at it if I would like. They are so kind.

Thousand Word Thursday - Mimi's first day

Little Bit is so sad that both of her sisters are back to school. Mommy just doesn't entertain like they do.

Thousand Word - Beach Fun

We spent the week at the beach; one more last hurrah before school starts up. We had a wonderful time. Hope you get some R&R before your year starts.

Despite having watched "Shark Week" the previous week, Bigs was not afraid to play in the water. She loves getting beat up by the waves and throwing jelly fish back into the water (yes, real jelly fish, no they were not poisonous).

Mimi enjoying the sand and water. She has a fantastic imagination and can play for hours.

Can you believe I forgot to bring Little Bit's bathing suits to the beach?? Luckily, Mimi had one that was slightly too small for her....but still a bit big on Little Bit. She had the most wonderful time digging in the sand and chasing sea birds.

Wordless Wednesday - Mother's Day Tea

Mimi and her friends sang a beautiful Mother's Day song and also chose to sing A Tuti Ta (not sure if this is the real name or spelling of the song). Thumbs up, arms back, knees together, bottoms up, tongues out.....So funny!

Bubble Concentration

Angela at Angela's Adventures and Minor Mishaps is hosting a bubble picture contest! She tells us that the second week of March is National Bubble Week. I've already posted a bubble picture of the baby and big sister. The hardest subject to capture was Mimi as she was fast as lightening chasing those bubbles. She has such concentration! Enjoy!

Thousand Word - Best of Friends

My wish for today is that they will grow up loving each other unconditionally and delight in each other's lives. That they are strong when the others need it and they are carried by the other two when they need it themselves. I pray that they grow together spiritually and encourage each other. That they will be best friends. Sisters. How much fun!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Our church puts on a fabulous Daddy Daughter Dance to teach girls how to expect boys to treat them - by looking to their daddy for example. It's a big deal. There were over 1,200 daddys and daughters this year. My girls look forward to it and talk about it months ahead of time (and afterwards).
