A Thousand Word Thursday - Fish Bowl

Has to be another recent Little Bit picture as my computer still is in the shop and I have limited pictures on this one. I just love it when she looks in her fish bowl. As of late, she has been putting her whole head at the opening to see what she can get out. So cute!! Don't you just love those shoes? All three girls wore them and they still look brand new. I just put them in the too small pile. It goes by too quickly!

Cheaper Than Therapy holds A Thousand Word Thursday each week. Go visit to check out other pictures!

Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop - Limericks

My Not Me! Monday post gave me the material needed to complete Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop challenge - compose a limerick or two. Go HERE for a most hilarious site and the just of the workshop. (Need a laugh? Don't read my limericks...read THIS)

Mommy needed Mexican cuisine
She didn't really want to be mean
you ate it any way
none left the next day
Now she's jonesin' again like a fiend

There once was a mommy of three
Who called every child by "Sweat Pea"
They would pretend not to hear
Or so it would appear
Now that mommy is as mad as could be

There once was a girl who needed shoes
We hit every store but could not choose
Mom's patience wore thin
The shoes were ugly as sin
Now mom is heading straight for the booze
(OK, not really but it's hard to rhyme with shoes and I really could have used a glass of wine after that shopping trip)

Go ahead and make up a few of your own. Get those creative juices flowing. Live a little! :)

Works For Me! Kid's Snacks

Over a dozen times each day I am asked "I'm hungry. What can I eat?" Sound familiar? Now that my kids are able to open the refrigerator I have designated the bottom bin their snack bin. I fill it with apples, yogurt, string cheese, and other healthy options (even things like raisins and such that don't have to be refrigerated - at least it is in one place). Now instead of asking what they can have, they ask if they can have a snack. It's so much easier on my brain just to say yes, than to think of what we have. Easy. Works for me!

I just discovered Real Food Wednesday and adore it. She has weekly themes. This week it's great time-saving kitchen tip or nutrition tips. The list of past carnival are nice to browse as well because you know what topic is covered. Go see for yourself!

Tempt My Tummy - Balsamic-Rosemary Vinaigrette

I recently found this in a magazine (don't ask which, I'm not sure) and am very impressed. I love balsamic vinaigrettes but many don't make the cut. They must be pretty tangy for my taste. This one is plus gives a nice rosemary flavor to top it off. It is also very easy to make AND I have a huge rosemary plant that I hardly ever use. So I just adore this one.

Balsamic-Rosemary Vinaigrette

In a blender combine the following:

1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 small garlic clove
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (or 1/4 teaspoon dried)
2 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Blend until smooth. With machine running, add 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil in a thin stream; blend until creamy. Stores up to 2 weeks. Makes 3/4 cup.

Not Me! Monday

My computer died so it is at the shop. I am NOT too lazy to get the Not Me! Monday button for this post because my "blog" folder is not on this computer. We'll pretend I forgot :) I did try to copy and paste from another post but of course, it cannot be that easy.

I did NOT make chicken enchiladas this week knowing full well that nobody else in the house likes them. And they did NOT surprise me and all eat seconds. I sometimes have to feed the craving :)

I did NOT call the bagger girl at Publix Sweet Pea when thanking her for helping me out to my car. I do NOT call each of my girls Sweet Pea because I cannot remember their names half of the time. I do NOT often answer my husband with Yes, ma'am. After saying it a million times a day to all the Sweet Peas, it is not easy for me to make the switch to sir. I do NOT often think I am losing it and had better start doing daily "brain building" games before it happens.

We went to the mall to get my oldest shoes for the upcoming Daddy Daughter Dance and we did NOT go to every single store that sold kids shoes without finding anything that were proclaimed too big, small, ugly, or broken feeling (whatever this means). I did NOT break down and let her get tennis shoes that really do not match the dress or are even remotely cute. The shoes were NOT 2 sizes too big and ugly as all get out. The moment they were on her feet she did NOT exclaim "perfect!" I did NOT buy them - just because I could not stand to leave the mall knowing we would have to do more shopping. At least she won't be wearing her black boots...

Go over to My Charming Kids and Not Me Monday to see what others have definitely NOT done this week! Enjoy your day!
